Week 2
The Oooh’s and Ahhh’s of teaching was really relatable for me, and completely inspiring. It made me think about the connections I draw between human anatomy and dance, and what other directions I could go in. I am getting more interested in giving my students journals to keep about their movement experiences, but wonder if they are too young to understand the meaning of a journal. I know I would appreciate learning about what they experience with me as the teacher, however I wonder if it would be worth their time. These examples of teachers taking their students to museums and exhibits reminded me of last year when I did not take my students to the “BodyWorld” exhibit—what a mistake! I can already tell that this book will be paramount for my own growth as a teacher to help dance or any subject be intertwined with critical thinking and art often serves as a starting block for students and teachers to begin a new understanding of themselves and of the curriculum.
